Types.

The type system underlies everything we do in Scala. It’s the basis that gives us confidence in our code, and our guilty conscience when we circumvent it. It provides an abstract model of the world, and still teaches us new things about our reality. It’s the rabbit we’ll chase for hours towards success, and the scorpion that will bite us in the dark. It validates us when it’s happy, and admonishes us when we transgress. It’s our pleasure and our pain, and I’m going to tell you all about it.
